摘要: Abstract BACKGROUND & AIMS: The cell of origin for Barrett's epithelium is unknown. A multilayered within has been noted recently. To investigate the hypothesis that this may be a transitional stage between squamous and epithelium, cytokeratin immunocytochemistry was used to examine normal squamous, Barrett's, epithelium. METHODS: Seventeen endoscopic biopsy specimens taken from squamo-Barrett's junction 8 patients with 3 gastroesophageal without were investigated. Antibodies cytokeratins 4 13 as markers differentiation, antibodies 19 glandular differentiation. Coded samples evaluated by immunocytochemistry. RESULTS: In control patients, staining columnar confined either or gastric Staining adjacent contrast, focal areas amidst stained both CONCLUSIONS: expresses concurrently described. These findings suggest multipotential (Gastroenterology 1997 Mar;112(3):760-5)
