Dopamine–glutamate abnormalities in the frontal cortex associated with the catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) in schizophrenia

摘要: Catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) plays an important role in brain catecholamine metabolism. Several studies point to the involvement of COMT schizophrenia. We applied immunohistochemistry paraffin-embedded sections and assessed cell density expressing glial cells neurons gray matter frontal cortex patients with schizophrenia compared control subjects. found a significantly increased (p=0.003), but unchanged (p=0.778) Our study demonstrates that might involve expression cortex, which be associated neuronal-glial abnormality disturbed dopamine-glutamate interaction.
