摘要: Ecological studies of timber wolves ( Canis lupus ) in a forested environment have always been difficult to undertake the past, particularly during summer months, because lack suitable technique. In 1960 Pimlott devised technique which employed use broadcast wolf howls locating field. This report reviews success this studying movements two packs wolves, and their home sites Algonquin Park, Ontario. Wolves responded by howling total 476 occasions or approximately 13% that were given. Human imitations more successful than tape-recordings inducing responses. Wolves at any time day, but dusk was most favorable period. They also frequently July August May June. Two types found: den site, occupied early life pups, rendezvous place later development pups. The locations evidence obtained from responses, tracks, scats suggested range comprised minimum area eight square miles. same utilized pack 1961 1963.
