Lipidomics Revealed Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis-Induced Hepatic Lipid Disorders Corrected with Treatment of Baicalin in a Murine Model

摘要: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a fatal lung disease. The current standard treatment with glucocorticoids (GCs) leads to many adverse effects, and its effectiveness questionable. Thus, it critical urgent find new drug(s) for of IPF. Baicalin (BAI) an attractive candidate this purpose. Herein, utilizing shotgun lipidomics, we revealed that IPF could lead lipid disorder the liver in animal model induced by bleomycin confirmed through histopathological studies lung. Lipidomics further demonstrated virtually be corrected after BAI, but not dexamethasone (DEX) (a commonly used GC IPF). In contrast, DEX did improve led tremendous alterations hepatic lipidomes accumulation fat liver, which was very different from underpinning mechanisms IPF-resultant DEX-induced lipotoxicity as lipidomics were extensively discussed. Taken together, study showed disorder, can treated powerful tool drug screening.
