摘要: The Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 formally establishes a national program for pre-disaster mitigation. As part the mitigation planning effort, state and local governments are required to perform assessments hazards vulnerability, including development multi-hazard maps. However, number communities possessing technology, expertise, time create vulnerability maps is limited due technical resource constraints. use Internet mapping technology has potential overcome these hurdles because it does not require users possess high level GIS expertise or costly software, standardizes approach. This article describes Integrated Hazards Assessment Tool, web-based application hazard practitioners in South Carolina. initial findings suggest holds strong as viable decision support tool planning.
