摘要: Abstract This paper develops the first global index of international franchise expansion that ranks countries according to their attractiveness US-based firms. A quantitative model combining insights from academic research and business practice generates a ranking 143 potential target risk/opportunity profiles. The rankings suggest with large markets strong political legal systems (large European countries, Canada, Japan, Australia) are most attractive for franchisors, while small, unstable African least attractive. China (and other BRIC countries—Brazil, Russia, India) though market opportunity perspective, is nevertheless not highly ranked due significant risks cultural geographic distances. study reaffirms importance strategic approach franchising decisions, underscores properly assessing relative key determinants in internationalization highlights comprehensive systematic assessment various shows usefulness modeling franchising, advocates development effective risk management methods order cope rapid changes marketplace.
