摘要: Abstract Objective To evaluate the antioxidant activity of essential oil obtained from Rosmarinus officinalis ( R. officinalis ) in ethanol-induced gastric ulcer model in vivo . Methods The properties were evaluated against injury induced by absolute ethanol. Gastric tissues prepared to enzymatic assays. levels glutathione, lipid peroxides, and activities glutathione peroxidase, superoxide dismutase myeloperoxidase measured. Results Ethanol produced severe hemorrhagic lesions stomach with ulcerative lesion (140.2 ± 37.2) mm 2 In animals pretreated (50 mg/kg, p.o. ), a significant inhibition mucosal (21.2 ± 7.1) (84% inhibition) was observed. protected mucosa probably modulating enzymes (superoxide peroxidase) increasing or maintaining glutathione. addition, peroxides reduced. analyzed gas chromatography–mass spectrometer main constituents cineole (28.5%), camphor (27.7%) alpha-pinene (21.3%). Conclusions We suggest that monoterpenes present may be among active principles responsible for shown
