摘要: Cytoglobin (Cygb) was first described in 2002 as an intracellular globin of unknown function. We have previously shown the downregulation cytoglobin a key event familial cancer syndrome upper aerodigestive tract. expression and promoter methylation were investigated sporadic head neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) using cross-section clinical samples. Additionally, putative mechanisms Cygb explored by subjecting HNSCC lines to hypoxic culture conditions 5-aza-2-deoxycitidine treatment. In clinically derived samples, CYGB mRNA showed striking correlation with tumour hypoxia (measured HIF1A P=0.013) consistent associations histopathological measures aggression. also marked negative (P=0.018). cultured under conditions, trend increasing both progressive observed. Treatment dramatically increased those greater baseline methylation. conclude that gene is regulated this correlates clincopathological tumour's biological
