Dynamic biogeochemical provinces in the global ocean

摘要: [1] In recent decades, it has been found useful to partition the pelagic environment using concept of biogeochemical provinces, or BGCPs, within each which is assumed that environmental conditions are distinguishable and unique at global scale. The boundaries between provinces respond features physical oceanography and, ideally, should follow seasonal interannual changes in ocean dynamics. But this ideal not fulfilled except for small regions oceans. Moreover, BGCPs have used only as static entities having were originally established compute primary production. In present study, a new statistical methodology based on non-parametric procedures implemented capture characteristics 56 BGCPs. Four main parameters (bathymetry, chlorophyll concentration, surface temperature, salinity) infer spatial distribution BGCP over 1997–2007. resulting dynamic allows us integrate timescales, so introduces possibility detecting shifts conditions.
