摘要: Abstract The cadherin-catenin complex has an important role in cell-cell adhesion and may also function signaling pathways. We report that overexpression of three cadherin types Xenopus embryos causes them to develop with reduced dorsal axial structures. same phenotype is produced have been depleted maternal β-catenin protein by antisense oligodeoxynucleotide complementary mRNA. They show inhibition the expression mesodermal markers MyoD goosecoid , but not ventral general markers. lack notochords, somites, neural tubes are defective Nieuwkoop assays. can be rescued injection mRNA Xwnt-8 These results mesoderm induction. directly demonstrate activity a axis specification.
