摘要: Taiwan and New Zealand are both located in the Pacific Rim where 81 per cent of world's largest earthquakes occur. Effective programmes for increasing people's preparedness these hazards essential. This paper tests applicability community engagement theory hazard two distinct cultural contexts. Structural equation modelling analysis provides support this theory. The suggests that close fit between data is achieved by excluding trust supports theoretical prediction familiarity with a negates need to external sources. results demonstrate applicable communities have previously experienced therefore familiar associated earthquake preparedness. also argues cross-cultural comparisons provide opportunities collaborative research learning as well access wider range potential risk management strategies.
