摘要: Background: There is a lack of reliable hepatoprotective drugs in modern medicine to prevent and treat drug-induced liver damage. Leaves Sacred/Holy Basil, i.e. Green Tulsi (Ocimum sanctum), belonging family Lamiaceae are used traditionally for their effect. We wanted evaluate the activity Ocimum sanctum observe whether synergistic hepatoprotection exists with silymarin. Materials Methods: Albino rats (150-200 g) were divided into five groups. Groups A B normal experimental controls, respectively. C, D E received alcoholic extract Sanctum leaves (OSE) 200 mg/kg BW/day, silymarin 100 BW/day OSE + 50 p.o., respectively, 10 days. Hepatotoxicity was induced B, on eighth day paracetamol 2 g/kg BW/day. The effect evaluated by performing an assay serum proteins, albumin globulin ratio, alkaline phosphatase, transaminases histopathology. results presented as mean standard error (SEM) each group. study group compared control one-way ANOVA, followed Bonferoni's test.
