NMR imaging of changes in vascular morphology due to tumor angiogenesis

摘要: Tumor-sprouted vessels are greater in both number and diameter comparison to their healthy counterparts. A novel technique based on magnetic susceptibility contrast mechanisms that sensitive varying sizes of blood is presented measure differences between the relaxation rates (1/T2 1/T) a rat glioma model normal cerebral cortex. ΔR2 ΔR2*, precontrast postcontrast agent injection, were measured for an intravascular equilibrium (MION) at various echo times. Since ΔR2*/ΔR2 increases as vessel size increases, this ratio can be used average within ROI or voxel. The stability longevity vasculature verified (n = 2 trials), tumor cortex was 1.9 ± 0.2 4, time 20 ms, difference (Δχ) ≈ 10−6). This compared favorably predicted determined using histologically theoretical Monte Carlo modeling results (1.9 0.1). Maps also made pixel-by-pixel basis. These techniques support hypothesis MRI provide useful quantitative metrics vivo vascular morphology.
