摘要: This study is a pioneering effort to quantify the materials stocked in road network of developing country, Vietnam, and analyze its relationships country's recent economic development. National networks function as capital infrastructure investments that are necessary catalysts for countries’ development, while requiring extraction vast amounts construction expansion maintenance causing environmental impacts. However, there has so far been little research on subject, especially countries. We compile material stock flow accounts Vietnam's roads from 2003 2013 national provincial levels, finding approximately 40% domestic consumption expanding maintaining network, doubled 1,321 million metric tons 2,660 2012. Material growth rates closely resembled those gross product (GDP) this period, suggesting codependency physical development On level, our results show local disparities capacity support transportation passengers freight, considering surging vehicles urban centers. By showcasing challenges conducting analysis not only sheds light policy implications, but also serves case further work similar
