摘要: Abstract Although a plethora of benthic indices exist, there is no agreement on what index or should be used by environmental managers to establish quality. The objective this investigation was rank 35 quality assessment in different countries evaluate the impact produced 15 human pressures (including multipressure, aquaculture, sewage discharges, eutrophication, physical alteration, chemical pollution, climate change, etc.). ranking determined taking into account coverage area biogeographical provinces, number citations testing pressure and with significant correlation pressure. We analysed 363 references, which 169 showed quantitative data. Over potential total score 100, highest values were obtained following indices: (i) AZTI’s Marine Biotic Index (AMBI), scored 77, tested using 14 provinces from Arctic tropical seas; (ii) multivariate AMBI (M-AMBI), 74, 12 13 provinces; (iii) Bentix (BENTIX), 68, nine six (iv) Benthic Quality (BQI), 66, five seven (v) Opportunistic Polychaetes Amphipods (BOPA) index, 62, eight provinces.
