摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter discusses membrane and cytoplasmic changes in B lymphocytes induced by ligand–surface immunoglobulin (Ig) interaction. Surface Ig is the receptor for antigen molecules on lymphocytes. has been identified B-cell surface using immunocytochemistry or direct biochemical analysis. The number of presumably serving as receptors cell average 105 per cell. amount surface-bound large comparing to hormone needed trigger certain cellular responses. One could speculate that many Ig–antigen interactions result nonfunctional events; therefore, are needed. requires such a high effectively bind size variable epitope densities successive hits these cells reach an effective threshold stimulation. distribution other macromolecules studied at ultrastructural level various methods. method was analysis regular thin section exposed antibodies conjugated visible molecule.
