摘要: Abstract Chronic facial muscle pain is a common feature in both fibromyalgia (FM) and myofascial (MF) conditions. In this controlled study, possible difference the mode of deregulation physiological response to stressing stimulus was explored by applying an acute mental stress FM MF patients controls. The effects test were observed on pain, sympathetic variables, tonic reflex electromyographic activities masseteric temporal muscles. statistical analyses performed through generalized linear model including mixed effects. Painful reaction stressor stronger ( P = .011) than independently higher level at baseline. stress-induced autonomic changes only seen did not reach significance. responses strongest for controls weakest FM. had no effect activity (area under curve [AUC]) or latency, although AUC high latencies low groups. It suggested that characterized lower ability adapt MF. Perspective This study showed psychosocial triggered several 2 conditions increase larger amplitude pain. Similar should be as mechanisms differentiation between dysfunctional
