摘要: We define a translational ecologist as professional with diverse disciplinary expertise and skill sets, well suitable personal disposition, who engages across social, professional, boundaries to partner decision makers achieve practical environmental solutions. Becoming requires specific attention obtaining critical non-scientific breadth skills that are not typically gained through graduate-level education. Here, we outline need for individuals broad training in interdisciplinary skills, use our experiences basis assessing the types of would benefit potential ecologists, present steps interested ecologists may take toward becoming translational. Skills relevant be garnered experiences, informal training, short courses, fellowships, graduate programs, among others. argue ecology workforce is needed bridge gap between science natural resource decisions. Furthermore, this task cooperative responsibility pursuing these careers, educational institutions scientists roles outside academia, employers seeking hire skilled workers can foster stakeholder-engaged making.
