摘要: Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) are a growing family of zinc-dependent endopeptidases that capable degrading various components the extracellular matrix. These enzymes have been implicated in variety physiological and pathological conditions including embryogenesis tumour invasion. The synthesis many MMPs is thought to be regulated by growth factors, cytokines hormones. In this study, we investigated effects five exogenous factors known expressed gliomas [epidermal factor (EGF), basic (bFGF), transforming beta (TGF-β1,2) vascular endothelial (VEGF)] on MMP-2 MMP-9 expression an ependymoma, two grade III astrocytomas, oligoastrocytoma benign meningioma. Zymogram analysis revealed depended upon cell lines used study. Growth generally up-regulated but were least effective meningioma; effect being most prominent with TGF-β1 TGF-β2 all lines. It hypothesized paracrine interplay may crucial regulation MMP glioma invasion normal brain. © 2000 Cancer Research Campaign
