Building and sustaining support for national parks in the 21st century: Why and how to save the national park experience from extinction

摘要: Understanding and enhancing societal support for national parks is critical their survival globally, especially in the uncertain rapidly changing economic political environment of 21st century. This paper argues that continuing availability a diversity visitor experiences essential cultivating this support. Employing park as key tools building sustaining support, strategies doing so, have received limited attention by scholars. aims to conceptualize benefits threats basis cementing protection enhancement into management practices. It does drawing on literature investigating visiting theoretical empirical foundation identifying range need be saved from extinction. Principles endangered species management, derived conservation biology, are then used conceptual lens examine these experiences.
