摘要: This study examined how stimulus elimination in a preference judgment task affects observers’ choices. Previous research suggests that biasing gaze toward one alternative can increase for it; this reciprocally promotes bias. Shimojo et al. (2003) called phenomenon the Gaze Cascade Effect. They showed likelihood an observer’s was directed their chosen increased steadily until moment of choosing. Therefore, we tested whether observers would prefer at which they had been gazing last if both alternatives were removed prior to start rising likelihood. To test this, used and controlled presentation based on using eye-tracking system. A pair nonsensical figures presented computer screen stimuli eliminated while participants still making decision. The timing differed between two experiments. In Experiment 1, after or more times, when participant’s fell alternative, pre-selected as target stimulus. There no significant difference alternatives. 2, did not predefine any After participant gazed next fixated either. choosing (at elimination) greater than chance. Results controlling participants’ choices gaze-contingent impossible, but different results these experiments suggest decided choose during first period each alternative. Thus, could predict by analyzing eye movement patterns elimination.
