摘要: Pediatric brain gliomas are not always amenable for complete surgical excision, therefore adjuvant treatment a large tumor mass is often required. As volume shrinkage may be reliable method assessing response to treatment, information about the growth potential desirable an adequate follow-up of patients. Choline (Cho) signal intensity, determined by proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy imaging (H-MRSI), has proved indicator metabolic activity and progression in various intracranial tumors. In this study we have sought determine if H-MRSI can use monitoring pediatric different forms therapy. We performed pretreatment post-treatment 10 children with biopsed or partially excised gliomas. The period ranged between 6 40 months. A total 38 were performed. All patients had chemotherapy radiotherapy. utilized ratio tumor/brain Cho intensity. Treatment was evaluated as function clinical outcome. whose decreased remained stable observed that (p < 0.01) after low during longitudinal follow-up. 4 tumors progressed increased treatment. These observations suggest serial provide valuable regarding therapy these neoplasms childhood.
