摘要: Prevention and treatment of bacterial colonised/infected wounds are critical. Many commercially available silver dressings claim broad-spectrum bactericidal activity over days indicated for serious conditions including burns ulcers. However, there is no peer-reviewed literature many newer dressings. This study compared the some these Six silver-containing were using log reduction, release corrected zone inhibition assays. Only nanocrystalline dressing was against Staphylococcus aureus, only other that produced any reduction a collagen matrix dressing. These two alginate zones inhibition, although had decreasing sizes time, latter liquefied after five transfers. The remaining (two ionic foam sulphate dressing) did not produce inhibition. For foam, dressings, antimicrobial related to release. released large quantities silver, but through edges, as wound-contacting surface appeared be hydrophobic. results this emphasise importance confirming product claims regarding efficacy.
