摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the crucial role of macrophage both in induction immune response and as a powerful effector cell. In latter capacity, macrophages ingest dispose variety organisms, kill tumor cells, participate number immunopathologic processes. Macrophages obtained from animals have altered morphology metabolism, exhibit an enhanced ability to deal with microorganisms. Such are said be activated. Recent studies suggest that vivo activation requires interaction specifically sensitized T lymphocytes appropriate antigen. The question arises how antigen leads macrophages. Ever since discovery produce soluble material, migration inhibitory factor, which affects behavior macrophages, it has been thought such lymphocyte mediators might also activate presents demonstrate can indeed
