摘要: Sepsis and starvation are catabolic conditions often occurring simultaneously. We recently found that uptake of the nonmetabolized amino acid analog, alpha-aminoisobutyrate (AIB), was reduced in skeletal muscle during sepsis, data were presented suggesting this reduction caused by a factor present septic plasma. The purpose study to determine effect on investigate possible interactions between sepsis regarding effects uptake. Soleus muscles removed intact from rats fasted for 0, 24, 48, or 72 hr. Muscles incubated 2 hr Krebs-Henseleit bicarbonate buffer (pH 7.4) glucose (5 mM) with without 0.25 ml plasma (total volume 3 ml). Muscle AIB progressively decreased approximately 50% first 48 starvation, no further decrease at Addition vitro fed which had been 24 hr, but did not reduce after longer periods starvation. results suggest reduces nutritional status is an important component response factor(s) capable inhibiting
