摘要: Unexpectedly aggressive clinical course of some grade II astrocytomas is a diagnostic dilemma for routine histopathology. Because increasing tumor malignancy consequence progressive accumulation chromosomal alterations, we investigated whether behavior could be predicted by the number and type gross aberrations. We used comparative genomic hybridization to analyze 11 with typical (good, n = 7) or poor (n 4) prognosis. The results were also compared reference material 13 III-IV nine established cell lines. found median two aberrations (range 0 in tumors good prognosis 15.5 changes 8 28) Chromosomal gains present both groups, whereas losses frequent (median 9.5, range 3 14) but rare 2). All high-grade astrocytoma group majority them very similar those conclude that an early genetic closely associated patient prognosis, suggesting use characterization astrocytomas.
