摘要: AIMS--To assess the consistency and reproducibility of assessment c-erbB-2 immunostaining, to examine some problems relating inter- intraobserver variability in documentation positive staining; profile spectrum cytoplasmic membranous staining a wide range tumour types. METHODS--A total 283 neoplasms were examined for immunohistochemical expression oncoprotein. Three independent observers required intensity both membrane on three point then four scale. Extent was also assessed two A minimum weeks elapsed between assessments using differing scales. RESULTS--Positive documented by one or more 16.6% tumours examined. This positivity largely restricted bladder, renal, breast tumours. The overall level disagreement as presence absence 11.3%. Cytoplasmic identified 55.5% studied. 26.5%. CONCLUSIONS--Intraobserver minimal, indicating that each pathologist adhering internal reproducible standards. Interobserver greater, interpretation immunostaining may require set guidelines. It is suggested should be referenced standard control, tier system grading extent adopted, evaluation agreed at least pathologists. continue routinely recorded until its biological role clinical implications are fully understood.
