摘要: Defensin alpha 6 (DEFA6) is a member of the defensin family microbicidal and cytotoxic peptides that defend against bacteria viruses. Here, we provide novel function DEFA6 in tumorigenesis colorectal cancer (CRC) vitro vivo. Specifically, highly expressed both CRC cell lines as well patient-derived samples at level RNA protein. By shRNA-mediated loss DEFA6, found proliferation, migration, invasion, colony forming ability were impaired absence vitro. Furthermore, DEFA6-deficient cells exhibited significantly reduced growth rates compared to control More importantly, by analyzing 352 samples, revealed associated with overall survival rate patients thus an independent prognostic marker for CRC. These results suggest plays essential oncogenic role serves good therapeutic target disease.
