摘要: This paper presents a description of three the proposed phytoplankton indices under investigation as part classification framework for UK and ROI marine waters. The process are (i) biomass measured chlorophyll, (ii) frequency elevated counts measuring individual species total cell (iii) Seasonal progression functional groups through year. Phytoplankton is calculated by 90th percentile measurement chlorophyll over growing season (April to September) compared predetermined reference value. Calculation taken proportional derived from presence indicator or group count. Initial boundary conditions assessment high/good status were tested each index. Chlorophyll thresholds developed previous EU directives with setting offshore concentrations condition. Thresholds taxa assessments describing that could be impact negatively on environment. Reference seasonal growth curves established using "high status" waterbodies. To test preliminary boundaries index, risk integrating nutrient enrichment susceptibility coastal transitional waters was carried out identify WFD waterbodies in England Wales at different levels risk. Waterbodies assessed having low medium identified type 1 2 waterbodies, high 3 data extracted assigned applied index robustness ranges
