Epidermal growth factor receptor inhibition in cancer therapy: biology, rationale and preliminary clinical results.

摘要: The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), a involved in the regulation of cellular differentiation and proliferation, is highly expressed by many tumor cells. In light relationship between overexpression EGFR clinically aggressive malignant disease, has emerged as promising target for cancer therapy. recent years, several molecular strategies have been explored to modulate either itself, or downstream signal beyond cell surface receptor. One most current involves use anti-EGFR monoclonal antibodies (mAbs), alone combination with conventional cytotoxic modalities such chemotherapy radiotherapy. This review focuses primarily on progress development mAbs, examines their potential treatment cancer.
