摘要: Purpose : Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) is a highly lethal neoplasm with median survival of ∼1 year. Only 2–5% patients originally diagnosed GBM will survive ≥ 3 years. Whether tumors from these long-term survivors (LTSs) exhibit molecular genetic differences compared typical not known. Experimental design Tumors 41 initially and having years (LTS) was 48 GBMs short-term (STSs, ≤ 1.5 years) for p53 aberrations (expression/mutation), epidermal growth factor receptor overexpression, mdm2 proliferation index. Results Nuclear expression significantly more frequent in the LTS group. However, no difference rate mutation evident. Overexpression slightly STS patients, but this statistically different. overexpression STSs, group had higher Conclusion Long-term were likely to have p53-overexpressing tumors, although could be detected. They less lower survivors.
