摘要: Astrocytic gliomas are the most common human cerebral neoplasms. The WHO classification of brain tumors recognizes four malignancy grades based on histopathological parameters. Recently, there has been remarkable progress in studies molecular pathogenesis these tumors. In this chapter, we summarize data from an ongoing study that initiated to molecularly characterize astrocytomas. 150 astrocytic compiled. These were assessed for characteristic genomic alterations, i.e., loss portions chromosomes 10, 17p, 17q, and 19q, point mutations p53 tumor suppressor gene amplification epidermal growth factor (EGF) receptor (EGFR) gene. Our findings support hypothesis distinct genetic pathways result formation astrocytomas different glioblastoma multiforme can be subdivided into at least two subsets. It is expected will have a major impact both diagnostic clinical neurooncology.
