摘要: Atrial fibrillation (AF) is the most common arrhythmia in elderly population and it associated with a four-fold to five-fold increased risk of thromboembolic events. It was not until mid-1950s that left atrial appendage (LAA) identified as main location thrombus formation, particularly patients non-valvular AF. In this review, we explain at some extent its embryology, anatomy physiology, well clinical pre-clinical trials published date testing safety efficacy LAA closure devices. Among those devices, studied include PLAATO system (ev3 Endovascular, Plymouth, MN), Amplatzer cardiac plug (St Jude, Golden Valley, MN; St. Jude Medical, Minneapolis, WATCHMAN device (Boston Scientific, Atritech Inc., LARIAT (SentreHEART, Palo Alto, CA). Similarly, newer devices currently under investigation such Transcatheter Patch (Custom Medical Devices, Athens, Greece), AEGIS, Coherex WaveCrest (Salt Lake City, UT) will also be discussed. Future perspectives need for well-designed prospective studies between new oral anticoagulant drugs are proposed.
