Extracellular glutamate and other metabolites in and around RG2 rat glioma: an intracerebral microdialysis study.

摘要: The current study determined the extracellular content of glutamate, 10 additional amino acids, lactate, glucose and some antioxidants in a rodent model malignant glioma, its peritumoral space adjacent cortex. RG2 tumors were induced right frontal cortex Fischer-344 rats (n = 10) by standardized procedure to obtain maximum sagittal tumor width 3-4 mm diameter. After confirmation growth localization contrast enhanced MRI three microdialysis probes implanted simultaneously cortex: at implantation site (tumor), 2 caudally, brain around (BAT) 4 caudally (cortex) implantation. Dialysate concentrations glutamate increased 3.9-fold 2-fold BAT compared with Glycine was elevated 11.4-fold 2.6-fold BAT. Lactate 1.7-fold tumor, 1.2-fold Levels glucose, ascorbic acid uric not significantly different dialysate levels glycine may contribute impaired neuronal function epileptiform activity associated this type humans.
