摘要: Abstract The mitigation of conflicts associated with large carnivore damage to livestock and agriculture is pivotal their conservation. We evaluate current programs compensate prevent in 27 European countries the factors related economic costs these programs. Overall, high compensation are free-ranging (68% total costs) national wealth. Contrary general belief, return carnivores does not always translate into higher costs. identify a tendency towards prioritizing over prevention; only few wealthy pay majority money allocated for prevention adapt husbandry practices presence carnivores. conclude that mainly focused on paying amounts will often fail build tolerance predators.
