摘要: Gadolinium-based MR imaging contrast agents cause signal enhancement of intracerebral tumors on T1-weighted images because they cross the compromised blood-brain barrier, increasing T1 relaxation rate extracellular water. Tumor extent measured by Gd-enhanced often does not agree with T2-weighted MRI or biopsy measurements, due to possible peritumoral barrier defects infiltration tumor cells beyond region enhancement. In this study, 9L rat brain model was used measure correlation between size and unenhanced histological measurements. There excellent agreement measurements histology. Morphological features untreated intracranial those treated radiation and/or cisplatin were compared features. No significant change in detected animals up 7 days following treatment, despite substantial necrosis evident analysis.
